i think that means that if you use fansubs you will lose quality... which is true (unless you know the right filters/crop, but is still against the site rules)

there are no "rules" on how to make a good amv, there are however some guidelines to what will make a good video compared to a crappy one...

like subtitles... they suck, unless they are part of the video, (as in they have something to do with the actual video and are there intentionally) they usually distract or take away from the video so its usually best to not have subs in your video.

fade ins and fade outs depend on the music... if it fits the mood use them, if it doesnt then dont...

i dont think you will get a coherent answer to what rules you should follow.. (cept most will agree with no subtitles :P) but what you should do is go out and watch as many amvs as you can and see what makes a good video and what makes a bad one. then come to your own decisions on what makes a good video.

Geez, make an AMV however you want. There's not proper format. This isn't fucking fencing or something.

Rule # 1 - Dont Be Me
Rule # 2 - Dont Be Koop
Rule # 3 - If it looks good to you, do it...
Rule # 4 - Have fun editing your video
Rule # 5 - The rules are just mainly guidelines... everyone likes different things... go with whatever you want and dont care too much about what people say...

Theres only one rule for AMV making:

1. Don't use the barn door transition. No ifs ands or buts. Just don't do it.
