Creating Long shadows in footage
If I wanted to create long shadows in my footage using either premiere, or possibly AE, how would I go about that?

What do you mean by long shadows? This is kind of vague. Do you mean a literal shadow, like the drop shadow effect in photoshop?
Do you mean motion-blur-like trailing and smearing in time?
Something else?

yeah, a literal shadow, like the sun at a angle on a object. By motion blur trailing, do you mean something that would appear in their wake?
This is similar to what I want, except I'd like it to appear somewhat bolder.

Well... its quite simple to project a shadow like onto a wall or something... you would simply apply a drop shadow or radial shadow effect...
But to actually modify the shading of the footage in a way like the image you show desribes... i dont think its possible except to paint it manually.

Would it be possible to recreate the effect in photoshop? I may be able to just do still images and still get the same idea across instead of applying it through out the entire video.

Well, hmmm...
To get the sort of streaky appearance like in the image...
I suppose you could use something like the sketch effect in photoshop, and composite it onto the original image, mask out the areas you want it to be on, and tweak out the colors some... or something along those lines.
