I have never made an AMV before, and I will probably sound like a total idiot, but here goes:
I have a computer with Windows Movie Maker and I want to rip footage from DVDs. I have viewed several guides on the method for this, but they seem quite complicated. What exactly do I need, besides a basic ripping program, to get footage from the DVDs that I own that I can then use in WMM? Also, are there specific ripping programs I can download that you would recommend for this purpose?
Thanks a lot! ^.^

Reading [some of] the guides was a smart move on your part.
for this, I am going to direct you to Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides
in this guide you'll find the amvapp
this is really all that you'll need for ripping.
there are a few more steps however.
I'd suggest trying to readthis guide first, as it is easy[er] to understand.
just be careful not to install aynthing that VicBond007 tells you to.
Most of it is outdated, and may cause problems with the amvapp
(darn it RichLather you beat me to it...)

I'd also suggest this:
http://www.aquilinestudios.org/wmm2guide.html
(Covers some WMM2-specific considerations that EADFAG doesn't as concerns getting the footage into a format WMM2 can use, but doesn't go over the actual ripping and indexing.)
