I noticed during AMV Hell 3 that making those small stupid tracks had a very negative effect on my editing which reflected on other projects too ^_^'' Nightwish project was fun to make though. So even though individual AMVs rule, MEPs are not so bad either. I did decide to cut down the amount of MEPs I'll participate for now. If anything really interesting comes I'll consider it of course, but I mostly want to focus on my own projects now. Or maybe I'll try to organize one..

(wow.. I made less sense than usual)

When you spend about 3 years planning and hoping to start a video, and you never have time to even start it because you are busy working on MEPs... that told me that there was a problem.

For now, I am totally sworn off of any MEPs. Im just doing my own thing... taking my own time... doing what I wanna do.

If an MEP comes along and I really like the idea of it, and I think its something that I seriously want to be a part of... maybe I'll have a go at it. But never again "just because it seems like a kinda cool project" or "just because someone asked me to".
What  .. You mena after you finish working on AMV Hell 4 - 30 :P

I donno, I think of MEP's as a good distraction to my main projects. As someone who normally justs works a little more than an hour a day, it takes me a LONG time to complete any of my full blown projects and sometimes I get bogged down by them. A MEP gives me a few days away from the main project and get something out - so when I go back, I have a 'fresh' look at what held me up before the MEP.

I prefer individual projects as a general rule, it's in many ways a longer lasting acomplishment than a small segment..

And there is no doubt in my mind that MEPs have had a huge impact on the community, though for better or worse I can not say. I remember back when I was petitioning for the creation of the MEP forum that they did not really exist on this site. There were large affairs, with independant websites and to get on one you had to be a well known editor or have the right friends. The creation of the forum democrtized them and led to an explosion of projects, some good, some not so good.

I would like to see more "album-style" projects which are composed of full videos, and less "let's see if I can get some better editors to help me edit this concept."

For example, the Animasia project had tons of feedback and community (114 pages of it ) and a sense of pride from mutally respected editors working together. And at the same time there was a sense of acomplishment of finishing a full length video. Most of the tracks were released seperatly and many won awards at various cons. The disadvantage is that it takes more time than normal MEPs and solo projects.

Individual...

Do you really think Mangas are an assembly line comic like X-Men. No they are all created by the author who illistrates, fills, inks, writes, edits and compiles it before sending it out for publishing. With respect to the Manga it comes from I cannot participate in a MEP. Not even with shrapnel in my Medula Oblongata.

I do like the exceeding ly high quality that the MEP projects can produce but it is not my style. 8-)

Rev... umm... can you just explain that? I'm quite confused as to what you mean? What's manga got to do with this, well, at least specifically anyway?

I woked on both the DDR projects and animix if anyone thinks that'll make them more popular they are sadly mistaken. The majority of people care about the vids, not who made them. Creators on the other hand might care a bit, but not really.

I don't care about almost any of the creators here, just some vids that are.
