With Anime Central roughly 3 months away, it’s time to take care of the next order of business: AMV Panelists and AMV Judges.
-----------------------------------------------------
AMV Panelists
This year there are a total of 8 hours allotted for AMV related panels. The breakdown is like this:
2 Hour – AMV Beginner’s Panel
2 Hours – AMV Advanced Panel
1 Hour – General AMV Panel
1 Hour – General AMV Panel
1 Hour – General AMV Panel
1 Hour – General AMV Panel
The General AMV Panel is for creators who want to run a panel. Availability of these slots is limited and will be given out to those who send me the best ideas. If you have already contacted me about running a panel there is no need to contact me again, since I should have already contacted you.
The AMV Beginner’s and Advanced Panel, will be available to anyone who wants to talk about the basic principles of editing an amv, or talking about advanced techniques. The beginner’s panel and the advanced panel will have openings for 2 people on each one.
The General AMV Panel will not have a limit as too how many can be on it. Generally we ask that there’s more than one person on it, as it makes the panel more entertaining. Requirements for these panels are that they are AMV related and be interactive with the attendees. That is you do something that gets the audience involved.
If you think running an amv panel at Anime Central is for you, then here is what you need to do:

Special Requirements
If more than one person is on the panel, I will need the contact information for everyone. Please don’t send me separate e-mails for each member, gather everyone’s information and send it to me in one e-mail.
One more note, if you are running a panel and want to hook up a computer/laptop to the projectors for demonstration purposes please indicate this under special requirements. Additionally, we find that during the beginner’s and advanced panels, having a system available to demonstrate what you are saying is key to running a good panel (but not required).
AMV Judges
Anime Central takes a mixed method to judging AMVs. The judges are composed of 3 amv creators (peer judges) and 3 regular attendees. All six judges are given a ballot before the amv contest and then rate the videos to however they see fit. It’s usually a lot of fun, and you get a front seat to the event. You’re only required to watch some music videos and rate them on how much you like them, that’s it.
The judging will usually occur during the repeat showing on Saturday at noon. This year, Staff and Theme have been separated from the main contest. As a result, there will be 3 contests to judge. Staff will be about 10 to 20 minutes long (this has been the case in the past) This is the first time theme has been held as a
If you want to judge, send an e-mail to musicvideo@acen.org with ATTN: AMV Judging in the subject line.
