Thinpacks....

Post by tyromaniac » Tue Feb 07, 2006 8:18 pm

Are thinpacks any different from regular dvds, or do they just call them that because they put all the dvds in one container so they become thin?
Here's an example site

Thanks (hope this is the correct place to post this, because it doesn't seem to fit in other places)

A thinpak is technically a thinner DVD case so you still get the same DVDs only in thinner cases.

just as I thought! i just wanted to make sure because it seems like buying them individually in the bigger boxes becomes a much greater price...

Thanks

Many slimline box sets that ADV is putting out these days do not include the extras found on the standard individual disk releases. For example, the Azumanga slimline set is on five discs instead of six, and it doesn't include the Very Short Movie.

thinpacks are usually post releases, a 2nd release line of a prereleased anime. Like Love Hina original DVDs are now collectors items because they are out of print in place of the thin packs.

It's kind-of the same as the original DVDs for say, Trigun or Lain, and they're newer "essential collection" or whatever they are releases. Which is similar to consoles cheaper "greatest hits" games.

Mostly clean opening and ending sequences, English dub commentaries which are a mixed bag (though I heard that Spike Spencer's commentary for the last episode was downright hilarious), animatics, and I think that's it.
