What do when having AMV artist's block

Post by AthenAltena » Mon Feb 06, 2006 9:17 pm

I realized today that I haven't posted a video in over a year, and I'm wondering what people here tend to do when artist's block hits and how to combat it. I've had many ideas but no motivation to finish them. I think I need a short simple project to start me up again.

I had several DDR tracks that could work for short things, but I'm wondering if their are any multi-editor projects that might be good for starting myself up again. Thanks in advance for any advice that might help me get back in the swing of things.

For me personally, if I really want to get motivated, I'll just watch some of my favorite AMVs, and hopefully it'll do the trick :o

That's a good one. I've been watching things like the DDR projects to get ideas on how to sync and different styles. Thanks.

I find that if I'm not motivated, I just have push myself into editing something. Once I finally start I'll get into it and I'm fine. Ic's and things that make you edit, work good to get me into the mood...

You could also just ask people for some help (that's what I'd do)

Usually i go to my nearest anime store and browse the anime selection. I usually have my mp3 player handy and start playing the songs, if anything jumps out at me then i buy the dvd (if i can afford it)then i go home and watch the anime to make sure its what i thought it was.

when i didn't release a video for about 9 months i joined (and ran) some MEPs. After a few tracks here and there i got back in the mood, and released my first 2 videos in over a year.

Simply put, I stop editing. If ever the inspiration hits me again, I will edit again. Otherwise, there is no output. I've forced one video, and I've since decided never to do so again. I have to feel that it's going to be a good video before I edit.
