The anime under my analytical eyes is known as "Samurai Deeper Kyo". Quite new in fact. I've so far watched upward to episode 11 and have come up with some stuff for description. Will you like this sword-slasher anime?
In terms of seeing something new, there's not much here. But the premise is modified. We've all seen an anime where the hero is some super-powered swordsman or such who's pretty much next to invincible in terms of fighting his foes. Yes, this anime follows a similar premise. The hero, er, heroes are combined in one human body. Right from the get-go, you'll notice something odd. The hero is an idiot. A perverse, eat-and-run-from-restaurant idiot. If you like that kind of thing (like me) he's your kind of hero. He has an Eikichi Onizuka attitude about him (at first). His "evil" counterpart is his saving grace from being nothing more than a "wuss" hero. The hero's "first" name is Mibu Kyoshiro. In "evil death" mode, his name is "Oni me no Kyo" (Demon Eyes Kyo)

In terms of music and BGMs. This anime delivers DBZ STYLE... WTF does that mean? Well, this is an action anime with a light dose of fanservice and the plot is somewhat confusing. And even after 11 episodes, I think I'll have to go watch it again to be sure I didn't miss everything. [kudos to reviewability] To get the point, the music fits all moods of the anime exactly. Which is mostly heavy base, electric guitar, and boom boom drums... Yes, this is a dark and BLOODY anime based off of a dark and bloody manga. [though me and Chojin both agree that the Manga beats this thing hands down... The anime modifies the plot. A LOT]
Capturewise, the DVDs aren't domestic yet and until I get them, I'm stuck with the digisub formats. I watched the digisubbed formats from more than one digisubber and there's inconsistencies. The anime is delivered in widescreen format ala Vandread and Noir. I don't know why anime producers are now doing this but I'm assuming it's for just the "theatrical" effect... I don't like it all to much but this anime's brooding atmosphere seems "augmented" by bigger screens...
If you are looking for lots of violent action, this anime will make you a happy otaku. Though the violence is NOT as senseless and boring as DBZ, [fights lasting 3eps +] the battles themselves are long enough to be both enjoyable, exciting, and for me, jump out of your chair calling for BLOOD! Enemies come in the form of "Sword Demons" who started appearing after a meteor crashed into the country. [I don't know how the fuck they came up with this premise for the anime and it has nothing to do with the manga...] The sword demons simply resemble humans till a fight forces them to transform. Yes, our hero is a super-powered samurai killing demons. But in terms of action content, you'll never see the exact same battle twice, though the finishing blows look the same, but named differently... ?

Demon Eyes Kyo's coolest move is his "Shin Muramasa" (true Muramasa) sword. The guitar riffs that play as he executes it is quite badass too.
The anime is "modern". Widescreen format + cg for all the magical attacks come together to form a well blended anime. The CG isn't as blatant as Initial D, Blue Submarine, or Vandread. But it has a more subtle approach to make it blend much better. Think of Sunrise's recent releases: Inu Yasha, Gasaraki. Or Gonzo's Gatekeepers. Yes, digital FX are scene here. But they are "well done" for an anime.
Lip synch: N/A (not domestically dubbed yet)
Effort: I can't grade the production of this anime too highly because the number of characters isn't that high and the "variety" given isn't too vast. We know the blond bounty chick [who acts/sounds EXACTLY like Naru Narusegawa of Love Hina fame] is a nice dose of excuse for the hero/male characters to gawk at. There's another busty beauty following the main characters who's power is extremely high, but I'm unsure of her motives yet. 11 eps and you'd think they'd show who she really is by now... ^_^ But with so many new enemies showing up [and getting slaughtered systematically by Mr. Demon Eyes] it doesn't take much for this anime to fall into a "routine". I don't mind though...
Overall: This anime isn't spectacularly new, but if you do need a something to bide the time and love the voice of Yui Horie [Love Hina's Naru] then this anime will more than likely keep you awake and may probably leave you jeering for more beheadings from our badass hero, Kyo...
The replay factor I've already mentioned. It's not that this anime is super reviewable, it's just that one may have to watch it more than once to really understand what's going on. I've already seen it thrice and it's quite good still...
My fav quote from this anime:
"The reasons why you won't defeat me are simple. First, your attacks are too light. Second, there's nothing I can't cut. And third, I'm BETTER LOOKING than you..." - Demon Eyes Kyo...
If you've seen this anime, can you tell me what the latest episode digisubbed released thus far is? Also, what are your thoughts on this digisub?
