Yes, you can. You can fillout anyone you would like to proxy for you in the Alt. Contact Name and Alt. Email Address fields in the General Info section on the submission form. Any correspondance will include the primary contact and any person included as an alternate. As such, anyone listed as an alternate contact may also accept an award for the submission.Castor Troy wrote:Is there any way I can specify a person to proxy for me when I submit a video with the online form?
I didn't really see anything on there about proxies..
If you have any additional requests or needs beyond this, just shoot us an email at vse@a-kon.com and we will accomodate you as best we can.
Thanks.

I had a question about the "waiver of liability of creation clause" in the submission process... Do you think that will protect you from any flac you might catch for, I don't know, providing distro discs? Is the intent with that to pass all the blame to the creator for agreeing to distribute (an illegal act in an of itself given the copywrited nature of the audio sources), or are they next to each other on the form by pure coincidence?
Edit: Also, are this discs sold, or given away?

The "waiver of liability" clause does not cover nor grant immunity nor wave liability for distribution of the material. What it does do for us, is confirm that you have agreed to abide by the rules, confirms that we are not the original creator(s), and grants us permission on behalf of said creator(s) (in this case you) for any modifications we may have to make to display your video. The most common modifications are re-encoding, cropping of bumpers/credits, removal of black space, and resizing of the original composition.BasharOfTheAges wrote:I had a question about the "waiver of liability of creation clause" in the submission process... Additionally, no the intent is not to pass any blame or liability back to the creator for distribution. According to our legal team there is no way to legally pass the liability back to the creator for distribution. Besides, even if we could, we wouldn't want to. I would never host an event for any convention that would ask creators to accept any additional liabilities on behalf of the convention or the event.
At the time when we created the submission form, the legal eyes were not upon us and, therefore, distribution was something we fully intended to do. However, in light of more recent events we will not be distributing the contest at this time. For the announcement see:
http://vse.a-kon.com/info_distro.shtml
However, we are looking into ways to try to make distro possible, but there are plenty of legal hurdles that have to be overcome and I am not sure that will be possible this year unless all industries involved come to a more amenable conclusion. So in the meantime, we left the opt-in section of the submission available with the hopes that we can someday figure out a way to distribute the material and keep all sides happy.
As for distribution, if we chose to distribute any material from any event, there will be no charge and the distribution will be online download only.

Aaaah, good to see a date, I saw details earlier on the site, but couldn't find a deadline.
I need to get to work soon, used to hang around the a-kon forums, but everyone immediately interprets my posts and comments as being rude, oh well.

My question is this. You can't enter the expert category unless you've won another con. Does that prohibit you from entering the amateur one if you've won cons before?
