rating videos by genre

When making up a video concept, don't think about what others like. At least in the beginning think only about yourself, search the song for Your idea, it's the best thing you can do. If you want people to like your project, the music is not that important, if you want an example, I just viewed a video:

Revenge

If I would have heared that song alone, man I swear I'd have thought it sucked, but after have viewed that video, I also loved the song.

If my explanation is not clear, I want to say that if you find a song that fit your idea, and you're able to edit well what you have in mind, then if the song is beautiful or not (but don't go on the awful, if a song is truly horrible, is horrible) will not be important. In a case like the "Revenge"'s one, you can also took people into like a song that probably they wouldn't without your video. Cool, isn't it?

Never obligate yourself to give the people what they want. Remember, it's your video, not theirs. You decide what genre you use, what artist you use, what songs you use, you decide what it looks like, the concept, story, anime, etc. Do things to satisfy you, and never anyone else.

So have fun with it. Some will like it, and some won't.

If anyone gives you a bad review, just because you used a certain genre, or someone tells you that this genre doesn't work well for AMVs, or someone tells you that you shouldn't use this genre, tell them to fuck off, and don't be nice about.
