Llamacon 2006 AMV Contest - SUBMISSION PERIOD OVER!

Post by dokool » Tue Nov 29, 2005 3:19 am

After about three hours of writing the rules and the entry form, I can finally announce our AMV Contest.

Submissions are due (in our hands, not postmarked) by January 25th, 2006. I will accept digital submissions, but we can't set up an FTP at the moment so we'll have to be creative (viz. your personal webspace, YouSendIt, AIM transfers, etc) for the time being. Snail mail entries are also encouraged.

One big difference from most other contests is that we're judging on technical merit rather than categories - judges will decide on five technical awards plus Judge's Choice, and convention attendees will vote for Audience Choice.

Because there are no genre categories and we want to encourage a bit of creativity, we've decided to allow live-action anime entries into the contest. I hope that those of you who've been saving that Casshern DVD or those PGSM raws for a rainy day will come up with some great stuff!

We're going to have actual prizes (given to us by CPM, AnimEigo, and other companies) so it'll be worth your while to enter. I also want to urge any of you within driving range to come out to the con, it will be a blast and given our focus on fanworks it would be dissapointing to only have a couple editors present.

If you have any questions regarding the contest, contact me at amvcontest@llamacon.org.

Good luck!

Bumping this now, rather than on X-Mas when nobody will be online to read it.

There is a little over one month left to submit to the Llamacon AMV Contest! Still no dedicated FTP - I'm working on setting up something so you can upload the file through the website, but for the time being if you want to submit digitally email me at the address above and we'll figure something out.

Happy Final Exams/Holidays/Etc,

-DOKool

less than 3 week bump for great justice!

FTP NOW AVAILABLE!

We have plenty of room left for submissions, so head on over to the contest page and email me at amvcontest@llamacon.org if you're interested in submitting digitally so I can give you the FTP info.

Good luck!

Less than one week to go! We've gotten far more entries than I've expected, this is going to be an incredible contest.

Submissions for the Llamacon 2006 AMV Contest are closed!

The final tally is 22 videos with submitting editors spanning 10 U.S. states and 5 foreign countries. A new thread will be created after technical judging is completed, with a list of the finalists.

Since we're well within our timeslot, every video submitted with an entry form will be shown in front of the audience in our Main Events theater (max capacity 300). My best guess is that after title cards, spoiler warnings, and a review at the end, the contest will run at about 1 hour, 15 minutes.

Thanks and good luck to everyone who entered!
