i started a big discussion

i had problems with AVI when i first started gettin AVI videos and it pissed me off until i got CCCP and 3GP Video Converter

thats cause you didn't have the right codec for playing the file... so once you got the codec pack, you had the righ tone...

i forgot to mention that Mpeg1 is generally more compatible then the avi container sinse it's a single format and not just a containter to hold any random video and audio streams. which means, playback on other OSs/systems is easier to impliment.

whats an OGM file format

i got a video with that shit it will play on VIDEO LAN and everything but my converter won't convert it so i can edit it

OGM? Most of the time that has divX/Xvid streams in them, have you tried using Avisynth to load it into virtualdub?
Why do people complain about things? Why can't they just be happy that they were made for them?
I respect everyone's right to not like something, but complaining about it will acomplish nothing...

OGM is also a container like avi is... it has features that avi doesn't (like multiple audio and subscript streams).

Yes, I do.

No, I'm not going to tell you. Buy the DVDs and avoid the issue entirely.

actually it is true. I had nothing but trouble working with subs... but with the dvd its rather easy to rip it and then format it for editing.
