Reducing the data rate

Post by Uanime5 » Thu Jan 19, 2006 1:34 pm

Does anyone know it reducing the 'data rate' will reduce the size of an AMV?

If it does, then does anyone know where I can get something to reduce the data rate of an avi?

Of course reducing either the video or audio bitrate will make the file smaller. The tools you need are XviD for video (guide here) and LAME for audio (guide here).

I've tried both, however I want to see if reducing the data rate is more effective.

You can set XviD to encode with whatever bitrate you want, you know...

Though, of course, it won't look as good at the lower bitrate. Just how much quality loss is acceptable is, of course, up to you.
Also, there are <a href="/guides/avtech/avspostqual.html">ways</a> to increase compressibility...
