Cant someone just point me in the direction of a good movie editing program, and give me a few tips?

I mean, its the year 2006, I can just download the footage and software I want, right?

To whom it may concern,

Please refrain from asking such questions in the future, for members here will probably give replies like the ones seen above, and some of them will not be nice about it. Free video editing software include Windows Movie Maker 2 and Virtual Dub Mod. Whether you download footage or not is your business, but it's best not to talk about here in the forums. Asking where to illegaly download anything is strictly prohibited, and may result in thread lockdown and being banned. Due to the fact that there are so many videos on the local servers that contain downloaded footage, we can't actually say that is againt the rules, but it is still against this site's code of ethics. Whether you use downloaded footage in your AMVs in your choice; just down expect any praise or special recognition, (unless you do one hell of a good job at editing). The use of such footage is discouraged and frowned upon around here, but as I said already, the choice is yours.

Have fun editing, and hope it turns out the way you want.

This is free-as-in-freedom software, but much of it is also available for no charge over the Internet.

I still suggest you donate to some of these projects, though. Money helps.

The obligatory answer : just say no to downloaded footage. It just looks worse. Borrow the DVDs you need from friends, or from a video rental store (many rental stores have decent-sized anime sections nowadays).
