MP3 stores...

Post by DocturKnowles » Thu Jan 12, 2006 2:15 pm

I apologize in advance if I'm beating a dead horse. That said, here's what I'm wondering:

I recently discovered E Nomine through AMVs on this site and I'm considering buying one of their albums. I tried to find a web site with previews of the songs (first 30 secs. or something like that) and I stumbled upon a cheap MP3 store. I'm not going to post the link, but the store name is mp3sugar. I tried to look up some reviews or similar on the web but couldn't find any reliable material.

Does anyone know anything about this site or offer insight as to whether or not they're trustworthy? I get no pop-ups when I go there, they have previews of all the songs, and have a very expansive collection...buuuuut the entire Die Prophezeiung album from E Nomine costs $.99. 28 songs for a buck? That sounds too good to be true.

I would go through iTunes (the one song I've really liked so far is "Das Rad Des Schicksals"), but they don't have anything by this band.

That does seem a bit fishy. I personally wouldn't go with it, try Napster (the new one's legal, if you ddidn't already know), there should be some stuff on there by them

Checking around a bit, it seems that mp3sugar is a Russian web site that is quasi-legal in the sense that it's not illegal for a Russian website to sell you this stuff. Whether it's illegal for you to BUY it on the other hand would take a steady eye and a long reading of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. So...be very cautious. I personally wouldn't hand them my credit-card info.
Life's short.

Yeah I figured. Oh well. As far as Napster goes, I heard that there is a flat fee for downloading, but there was another fee to make the song able to be transportable.

I iether buy music from a real store and get a physical cd with uncompressed and unprotected audio or I download it for free of the net. I dont see the point in paid music dl services, they're a rip off. And sites like E nomine profite from illegal distribution, so other than the RIAA they're the worst assholes of the lot.
