AWA 11 AWARDS (EXTREMEY TARDY) UPDATE

Post by MCWagner » Wed Jan 04, 2006 9:16 pm

It was just pointed out to me that a lot of people missed it when I updated the AWA awards list a while ago to include the guest and staff awards.

So here's a re-notification and a link to the list: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... 628#754628

I was a real slacker this year about getting the guest awards up in time. In my defense, I never heard back from some guests, and my stupid e-mail (where I'd stored the compiled list) went down repeatedly. Still, total my-bad.

(Maybe it's a good thing no one noticed, just spotted a lot of typos I've gotta go clean up to make it readable)

Actually Fluxy gave that award to my video, which is also called "Dead To The World"

Knew I got something wrong... corrected.

I could have missed it, but I don't think Fan Favorite was announced previously:

Fan Favorite Award goes to
JACQMART Yann
for the video “Jihaku”
to the song “Best of You” by the Foo Fighters
to footage from various Anime

(Just out of curiosity, how is this one selected? Was there a ballot?)

“Best Video I Should Have Done First” Award
and Vlad Pohnert gives his
“Vlad’s Classic” Award
to Robert Babcock’s video
“Bouncing Through the Years: A Gainax Tribute”
To the song “Megaman” by DJ Otzi
to footage from various Gainax titles
I pretty sure I changed mine at the end to Doki's "Catnip Dreams" (I think that is the name - the one with Jingaro) since so many others give an award to the one above one..

One of my friends had mentioned something about Quid Pro Quo getting a "mad German scientist" guest award of some sort (though I wasn't there to see it).

The title isn't very evocative of the video (I don't even know what it means) but I can assure you it was shown. It was shown in main as part of the Master's contestants, I got requests for it in the early morning, and it was shown on Sunday as part of the Master's block. It was the really increasingly rapid-fire one done with several inserts from the Foo Fighter's actual music video.

Fan Favorite was announced at closing ceremonies (in my sleep-deprived delirium) but somehow didn't get included in the list until the update. Fan Favorite is judged from un-prompted audience reaction, requests, general reception of the video, etc. Usually there's one non-award winning video that really gets the audience worked up. Like the Totoro "Come to Daddy" video from several years back. It's not done by ballot, because I hate them. They're hard to police, a pain to collect, presume that everyone who enters a ballot has seen all the contestants (every entered video that year), usually indecipherable, and I flippin' hate counting them.

(Vlad: fixed)
(IcyCloud: I remember that vaugely, but whoever it was didn't write down their own info on the designated sheet so I don't know who they were. Must have been a staffer, as the present guests all wrote it down. I'll poke around to try and unearth the culprit, but I can't post a staff award without a staffer. Hmmm... sounds like Quu.)

And the errors just keep piling up... that'll teach me to wait so long.

(In my defense, you just wrote "Lee". Or someone did. Not my handwriting.)
