Good AMV maker?

I was wondering what program you use to make your AMVs. I have Windows Movie Maker and I'm looking for one that has more transitions and better affects.
Can anyone recommend one to me?

how much are you willing to pay? if you have over $400 then go with Vegas or Premiere... if you want something around $50.. then go with Magix

You can look at this list for software in your price range. Or check this thread for some additional Free/Open Source software.

Depending on what you desire to do and how much you can spend, there are some programs that seem to gravitate to.

For cheap, I'd recommend Magix Movie Edit Pro 10, which can be had for $50 or sometimes less. For $100, I suppose the recommendation would be Adobe Premeire Elements, the baby brother to Premiere Pro which can cost upwards of $500. Also in the $500 club that seems somewhat widely used is Sony Vegas, which does not have some of the quirks of Premiere but has some of its own.

Recommended with reservations are: Sony Vegas Movie Studio + DVD, which has only 4 video tracks, under $100. Pinnacle Studio Plus 10, which has only 2 video tracks, under $100. Ulead Video Studio 9, which has only 2 video tracks, under $100. Also, these programs seem less used by the AMV community so support here is kinda sparse. Well, i suppose Magix is less used too...

I recomend using your brain and your fingers. You use your fingers to edit. Edting results in improvment of the skill with conects a bunch of wires in your brain. Your brain's ability to better detect good sync increases and theirfor your a better amv'er. Programs with increased functionality dont play any role in your skill.

Agreed; if you don't develop the basic skills Bum mentioned, no amount of flashy software is going to make you any better at it.

Make a good video with cuts only, or at most a slow dissolve or two. Do that proficiently and you're ready for the next step. Overloading on flashy effects or transitions means little if the underlying video isn't good to begin with.

I think I got the whole, cutting, editing, transition thing down. Have to thank my computer teacher for that. Blah, had to make 3 movies, then I actually did a regular AMV. yeah me.

Even though magix is mad cheap * 50$ ish* its really good if your just starting out or even if your pro

its one of the EASIEST programs to use!

But uh, Vegas is always good
