I belong to several forums, and I joined this one (and promptly lost the link and my user info, lol, having only just recovered it) this summer. There are a few things I see cross over, but I was wondering, what is "necroposting?" I know, I've been a member for months and am a newb yet, but bear with me, please. Is there any other jargon particular to this forum that I should be privy to, so as to avoid looking like a complete twit?

basically replying to really old threads... like a month old. if it's 1 or 2 weeks old, then it's generally fine to reply unless the topic has already been resolved.

Thanks, I rather suspected it had something to do with that. Is it better then to repeat a thread topic if it's been awhile since anyone discussed an issue and I happen to have questions about it?

yea... but if the topic exists, you might want to search for similar ones that might answer your questions and then make the new topic saying you searched for it but didn't find the answer. generally if you make a new thread people will be nicer then if you reply to an old one

Also, if the topic is on the first page but really old, you should be safe to reply. i think the main problem is when people respond to really old posts several pages back.
