I bought a soundtrack cd for a movie...

Post by uuber87 » Thu Dec 29, 2005 8:28 pm

I bought "The Scorpion King" Soundtrack and it says its a "enhanced cd" - whatever that means. For whatever reason, it won't lemme rip any of the songs to my computer and that ticks me off.

Is there a way to get the music off the cd?

All "enhanced cd" means anymore is that it is copy protected *growls at RIAA*. I have ripped copy protected CDs through both iTunes and Windows Media Player several times, try those programs out.

Ok I'm going to refrain your choice of purchases.

Open your cd drive, hold down shift, put the cd in the drive, and wait till the cd drive stops spining, keeping shift held the whole time. That should bypass the copy protection and you'l be able to rip the cd like normal. If it doesnt work, restart the comp and do it again.

I NEEDED TO KNOW THAT LIKE 3 DAYS AGO!! RAWR  it took me like 2 hours to just generally work Itunes because it kept having to close program (and my computer is a total of 2 years old so wtf) Then it wouldnt let me put songs onto my Ipod THEN every song I have on my computer has been ripped from the cd itself but they were all protected SO I spent said 3 days downloading all of the cds so they were NOT protected files UGH! well now I know for next time when I buy a new cd huh.

I've tried Windows Media Player, it didn't work. I don't have Itunes.

I also tried holding shift til it stopped spinning and restarted it and tried it. It still doesn't work.

I probably didn't say this beforehand, but when I put the cd in the CD Rom drive, it pulls up this menu for the trailer of the Scorpion King, Exclusives, Links and a Photo Gallery. Does this still mean I can't rip the music at all or is there another solution.

I have enhanced cds too. Harry Potter and Pokemon, and I have no problem ripping them through WMP. That is odd. When I put in HP 3 it comes up with all that stuff like you said. What Windows do you have? With XP, Windows Media Play really should rip it.

I have Windows Media Player 10 and it still won't pull up. It keeps pulling up this "Runme" crap and showing that stupid ole menu over and over.

If we are using the same WMP, I put the cd in and close anything that pops up. I open WMP to the full version. I go to Play (at the very top) and click DVD, VCD, or CD. That should bring up the track playlist. Then I go to Rip and select what I want ripped and then click Rip Music in the upper right hand corner.

I have alot of Enchanced CDs, and I copy tracks from them onto my comp. no problemo.
