AMV Newbie Question

First of all, I LOVE this website. The idea of all these videos gathered together and evyerone rating each other and stuff is awesome.
I have always wanted to make my own AMV. I was never able to because I never had the software or my own computer. (Parents...

Can be restrictive. . .). So, anyway. . .I got a laptop for X-mas! I wanna know. What is it I need to start making my own AMV's? What software and other stuff is best and where can I get it? What do you all use? I know this is such a newbie question. .. But if you can help me out that'd be great.

I think the first thing to do would be to browse the Video Forums (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/index.php?c=5) to see if anyone else has a thread about beginning AMV creation. That's probably your best bet on getting help.

Depending on your operating system and budget restrictions, the Software Forum has a nice sticky with information on where to get free editing programs that will work with what you are running.

The online guides will also be invaluable to you as you start editing. They may seem wordy at first, but plow through them, and you will learn so much that will help you!

when you are rated with stars or whatever it is, is it from like, 1-5, or 1-10, or 1-20? 'cause i have no idea...helpless
