Problems converting cut scenes from UMD's...
I know I just created another topic but just bare with me. This is different. much different.
I'm having a difficult time converting mpeg files I found off of an iso image of a UMD game. For all of you people who think your pro's at ripping and converting ps2 fmv's, then I dare you; I double dare you; I TRIPLE dare you, to try and convert this file.

Go ahead. seriously. It's only about 18 mb in size. If anyone can even watch the file I've provided (much less convert it to avi format) by using any information given in any thread on this site, then I will welcome any and all flames that come my way. If your used to following the guide stickied on this forum, then you'd want to start off right after the point where the nova extraction program is used. I've even left off the .mpg extension that the extraction program identified it with so you can copy and rename the file with whatever extension you think will help as much as you want (including .pss).
If anyone can even figure out how to view this file, then please tell me how. I need to know what to do so I can apply the method to the largest video file on the iso. (It's a 30 minute OVA around 200 mb in size).
The anime cut scene is from the psp game called "Irregular Hunter X".
Apparently ripping and converting cut scenes off of a umd is different than ripping and converting cut scenes off of a ps2 game. It may be possible that someone is going to have to create a totally new program just to read the video files off of some umd games.

I'm 90% positive the file I uploaded for you all is a video file. Because
1.)when I load it into a media player such as media player classic, it's at least able to tell me that it's 2 minutes 11 seconds long.
2.)Nova extractor found this file along with the file that MUST be the OVA. I know it's the OVA because the length of that particular file is around 24~25 minutes and that matches the exact length I was told the OVA is. Plus the size of the file is also pretty convincing.
I could upload the OVA but because of it's size, I didn't think anyone would be willing to test that out. But if you'd be willing to download it and see if you can get it to work, then I will upload it. At least with the OVA file I can guarantee there's a video stream on there somewhere.

Thanks a lot. I'll check it out right now. Btw, thanks for the replies. I've posted this topic at several other forums at other sites but they just go ignored.Kariudo wrote:http://ps2nfo.com/

I hate to double post, but I feel it's important enough to tell you that it doesn't matter what format your able to convert the file to. If your having trouble converting the file to avi and you feel it's easier to just convert it to one of the mpeg formats or wmv format instead, than so be it. As long as it can be converted into some other format other than the one it's already in then everythings good.

doh, nm... ok here what you do...
1. find a program called "Lande PMF Player". install it.
2. change the extention of the file to ".pmf"
3. run the program.
4. click the select button to open the file.
once you open it, it will start converting to file to an uncompressed avi. the avi is saved in the install directory of the program itself and is named "test.avi". so once it's done converting you can just close the program. you can then take that uncompressed video and convert it to something else.
sinse the video is uncompressed you should have a lot of harddisk space. this one file is 735mb (@2:11).
