John Lennon 1940-1980

Post by RamonesFan2020204 » Thu Dec 08, 2005 12:24 am

25 years ago today, the world (not just the music scene) lost an icon. John Lennon was more than just a Beatle and a pop artist. He was a man of peace, a man of justice, a man with a vision, a man with a way of words.......that was shot to death by a lunatic...... Today marks the 25th anniversary of his passing. I wasn't around when he died. My birthday was in 1986. But I've known that he was shot since I was little. My mother knows told me that during that time in 1980, she was in her apartment, and my dad called her from his office cleaning job and told her that Lennon died, and she said she didn't believe him until she heard it on the radio. My older brother who was only 2 years old at the time was asleep when it happened. The man is a legend, and his legacy lives on.

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky

Imagine all the people
Living for today
Ah-hah

Imagine there's no country
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
No religion too

Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You-hoo

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world we'll live as one

Imagine no posessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You-hoo

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world we'll live as one

How this doesn't have any attention yet is beyond me. RIP John.

He was an drug addict, he was horrible to his child, he let his first wife find out he was having an affair through a newspaper.

He wasn't a great man but most of the greatest rock/pop stars aren't and he was truely one of the greatest rock/pop stars ever. R.I.P.

I like John Lennon but I think the fuss about him is rediculous.

Or atleast the blaming Yoko part is anyway.

I once saw Cynthia Lennon on t.v. saying that he loved LSD and he felt like he needed to use LSD to be creative. Perhaps not the usual case for addiction but good enough for me.
