MIDI editors & converters

Post by Sir_Lagsalot » Wed Nov 30, 2005 7:44 pm

Anyone know of a decent free MIDI editor and converter? At the very least, it needs to be able to convert only a given track within the midi to wav.

How about Rosegarden hooked into, say, JAMin?

Windows-based apps would be of more use; I'll see if I can get Rosegarden to work with a live CD version of Linux though...

Have a look at sonar, after you assign and edit your midi tracks it will internally mix it down to WAV or some other audio file.

I'm pretty sure that Winamp can do the conversion using the File Writer plugin...it's been a while since I've done that, though. At least, that's how I think I did it...

He said "free". Were it not for that, I would have recommended Cakewalk Pro 8 in an instant as well.

I'm aware of that (that's why I said "as well"), but it wasn't when I was using it (that's why I specified the version). :P
