Ninja Scroll any good?

Post by aesling » Fri Nov 25, 2005 5:45 pm

I've seen the Ninja Scroll movie and really liked it and I was just wondering if the series is good too. The reason I ask is because recently I saw a box set of the series for a reasonable price at Wal-Mart, of all places. Would it be worth buying?

I didn't like the series much from what I saw of it.. I only saw the first 4 eps and it was not something I'd continue to watch without someone telling me "it gets better". I liked the movie better.

I sold the first DVD of it 2 years ago. It's actually the first anime DVD I've sold. I don't know if it gets any better but from what I saw it didn't seem that great.

I dunno if it gets better, and I've seen the whole thing. ;) It's a tough call, the 2nd disc is pretty pointless but 3rd one gets back on track and yet doesn't do a whole lot of anything. It certainly has a "wtf?" ending that just comes out of nowhere, but at least you get some slick fight scenes here and there. It's probably worth the discounted price, but I'm still a lil sour for buying them all individually. :x

The movie is certainly better, and now I'm wondering what the heck ever happened to the "supposedly in production" 2nd movie... maybe they gave up? :?

Hmmm, maybe I'll buy it, but keep the receipt...

Well, the movie has the same kind of feel to it too, the ending there was also a bit "wtf", i think they tried to give the serie the same feel as the movie. It isn't bad in my opinion, but the movie and the serie just weren't my style. It's good for an AMV or two maybe, but it just isn't something that i can really get into.

good I'm not the only one. I watched the first four epes and didn't bother to finish it. The fights scenes were decent but nothing to gawk at.

The movie is great, the series wasn't my favorite.
And if you liked Ninja Scroll, I'de also recommend Ninja Ressurection (Sometimes refered to as the second movie)(Although it is 2 eps...)

It is ok. I have seen the movies and some of the other stuff that has been done by them. I'd say if you want to watch it then just do.

If you love ninja as much as I do, then you'd feel kind of sad for NS.

For one thing, the movie (which is all I've seen) has poor voice acting,
that utterly annoying WTF? ending to it (oh how I wanted Sakon to get
the main girl in the end.....but die? That just horribly sucks major ass),
and the version I saw (OnDemand Anime Selects) needed to have its
coloring enhanced and lightened (unless it's supposed to be so dark).

Great for making AMVs, but kind of a let-down in reality (IMO, that is).
