Why do people here say anime companies support AMVs?

here's what I think. It's another way advertising as well as entertainment. It sometimes reveals new animes to us in an entirely new way that trailers can never do. It's kinda like some Music Videos on MTV that feature song from Movie Soundtracks. I should know well, cause I've gotten some animes in the past after watching certain AMVs. Animes I've seen in AMVs before getting the series on DVD was Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, Gungrave & Inuyasha.
