OK, I'm spewing out a lot of garbage.. please someone else start a new topic if this one is going to start to get derailed because of that other topic I was in. I just want the info.. it's not like I'm going to try to use whatever info here confirming companies supporting us and rub it in there face by going "SEE I TOLD YOU SO!" man this has all become just way too troublesome.. -_-

x_rex30 wrote:and.. ok what the F is your point.. it's a grey area of legal and who the fuck downloads a 50mb AMV just to get some song that they could easily get off of a file sharing programs? Soem people do but really it's a pointless time waister I swear.. I could even get any song I want just by doing a quick search on google and using the right key words.. I know how to get full albums in a matter of seconds.. most don't though.
What? You think it's safer using a P2P program instead of simply removing audio from an AMV that you can't possibly get anything from?
If you weren't trying to finish the argument, why did you continue after you said you weren't going to? You got your ass handed to you on a topic you knew little about. Don't try and defend AMVs. You fail at it.x_rex30 wrote:And saying I was trying to finish something.. damn your dumb. I specificly said I give up in arguing. I wasn't even going to list info got here to them. To hell with them and to hell with you.

I was done.. but they intended to keep bringing me up. And I don't see how I didn't do a good job defending AMVs. I made some good valid points.. like they said.. they wanted proof in things I was saying.. I didn't even care to give any.. I was just stating my opinion. and thanks again for bringing that shit up.. That topic is irrelevant. You just want to rub in my face about me being beat down like some newb. Now stop with the ego stroking.

Okay, yes keep picking at the scab that is the legal grey-area this whole community exists in.
Heres a clue:
SHUT UP!
Bitching and moaning about the legality of the hobbie is not going to help anyone. Just shut the fuck up and stop bringing unneeded attention here.
I do 80-90 on the Interstate Highways around here but at no time do I ever try to convince myself that its right. The speed limit is 55, if i get cought, I get beaten by the police.
At the same rate I wouldn't post a big neon sign on he back of the Porsche announcing that I was exceeding 25 mph over the legal limit. That wouls just be stupid. And I fail to see how what you are doing is any different.

let me get something straight. I'm not trying to argue legalities here. Just wanna know what anime companies think. I'm not trying to argue what should and shouldn't be illegal. Most of the info I get about what anime companies think is from word of mouth.. I dunno if they wish for is to stop or what. Nice to get other peoples insight on this. Don't reply if you don't care to fill me in with something you know about this.. I'm just curious that is all. Folks like to take it another way though.

here's the thing... ripping dvds and making amvs is illegal... the anime distributors in the US generally just let it slide (UNLESS they absolutly have to do something about it, like someone is selling their amv...). These companies like us because of the advertising. it's free... they also sponsor contests and events. what else do you need to know?

PS: did i mention it's still illegal?

Your not going to get to hear what the anime companies think, but their ignorance on the issue shows in spades about where they stand with AMV's.x_rex30 wrote:let me get something straight. If you really want to call them out on it though there is a good possibility that they would send something to this site banning us from showing any of the anime titles they own (Like the Music Industry just did with a few songs). That would piss a lot of people off, make them loose business, and create a unstable marketing scheme for lesser known titles (As in, they would have to actually spend their OWN money to market anime as well as an AMV can do for free now). If I were in the anime business these would be my reasons for turning a blind eye to rampant use of the anime I sell.
Making AMV's is just like making Mods for games you like. Both are free, both support the stuff there made from, both earn the companies free publicity (Saving them Money in Advertising), but one is illegal and the other is legal. Which means the Anime Companies probably will never support us... plus our music isn't their's either so if they did support us openly they might get into some serious legal trouble with the music industry.
And thats why I think you'll never hear them say anything about us...
