Need help in WMM, It keeps freezing.

Post by Kronik. » Thu Nov 17, 2005 8:29 am

Hey guys :D I'm new here and I want to make make more AMV's (I have made 1 already) But everytime I am on Windows Movie Maker for more than about 10 minutes it freezes! And I lose all the data.

I was wondering if anyone could help, because I have no idea how to fix this, has anyone else had the same problem???

Or can you suggest using another programme, I have Studio 9 aswell but that does the same thing, it just freezes. I'm not sure but I think it is because I cut up parts of other downloaded AMV's i get off of LimeWire and remake them and combine them, I think it is freezing because of like too much data or something. Please someone help me with this. If anyone could tell me another programme i could use or teach me how to use it then that would be uber cool.  I really wana make some more AMV's

Any help would be great thanks.

That happens to me too so I am just constantly saving it that way when it does freeze and you have to shut WMM down you haven't lost much. I am wondering too if that can be fixed but I'm sure it's not. Your best bet would probably be to get another program but WMM is the only one I know of and I actually like it despite what people say. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to look into other programs.

i have got Studio 9, which is layed out near exactly the same as WMM, I can use Studio 9 aswell as it is very easy to use, but it ALSO freezes. I really am stuck on how to get this fixed. How do you make them if it freezes every ten minutes :?:

Are you running other applications at the same time? I don't know about Studio 9, but Movie Maker can take up a lot of your system resources, so it's best to just have it running and nothing else, if you can help it.

Also, what are your system specs? The requirements for Movie Maker are listed here.

I have no idea what the specs on my pc are lol, but im sure that If i got WMM with my PC then my PC should be good enought to handle it right?

the thing is that it usually freezes when I try and play the video in Movie Maker to see if it looks alright.

I'm not sure, after i finish downloading some songs, i'm going to try Studio 9, with no other appliactions running (S9 is better than WMM by far)
So I will get back to you people later.
Thanks for the help anyways, hopefully this will work and I can make some pwnage AMVs lol :P

First of all, some editors will get mad at you if they find out that you have ripped off their AMV's. Second, you use DivX, XviD and other nasty codecs that way. These codecs will make nearly every editing software crash, not to talk about bad quality. Use DVD's and follow the guides, so you will have no problems.

I don't rip off their AMV's, when you put other AMV's into WMM it splits it up into scenes, i take the scenes i want (they are about 5-10 seconds long) and mix them with scenes from other AMV scenes. I dont rip the whole AMV's off :x

So here I have some threads for you to see what I'm talking about:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... 80&start=0
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=57880

And no matter if you think what you're doing is right, it is the source of your problems. The codecs used to encode AMV's are designed for distribution, not for editing. And they crash nearly every editing software.
