Video Editing Program

Post by Cleric_32 » Sat Nov 05, 2005 2:35 pm

Okay I am new to the music video crow but I want to start. What is the best program to use to make a video? I know a lot of people use windows movie maker but I want something with more options. I've heard good things about Pinnacle, does anyone have any suggestions?

From Bauzi:
First of all is "Windows Movie Maker" only one big cry for help. This Programm is very bad.
The best for noobs is to start with a more difficult programm. The start is than very hard, but after a lot of pratice you will be happy!
There are guides in this forum and there are software and hardware previews of the things on the main site. Read a few of them and than just think about wich programm you want.

IMO are the best programms to start:

Adobe Premiere Pro
Hard to handle, but you will keep it a few years. Sometimes there are stupid errors and other problems. Using DivX and XviD footage can make trouble also. But the programm is really not bad! Price: High

Ulead Video Studio
Not very hard to handle. Not so much options, but OK for beginners.
Price: about 50 € (sry I don´t know it in dollars ^^)

Ulead Media Studio
I was never really interessted in this Programm, but I thing it is a bit like Adobe Premiere and has the same options. (I could be wrong) There are a few more additional programms for other important things. Price: High

MAGIX Video deLuxe:
A very good programm, that is not that hard to handle like Adobe Premiere. It can do the same things and is much more easier to handle. The blueboxmod (and the other kinds of this option) are not so good like in Adobe Premiere and cause sometimes problems.
Price: 50 € (Attention! There is also a PRO Version. There is the same Videoeditingprogramm in it and a few more not so useful Programms and has a price around 100€)

I am not a friend of Adobe Premiere (I have it on my harddisk, but hardly use it...), so I think the best choice for a beginner is MAGIX! I also use it...

After you have enough (that needs a lot of time and years!). You can go to the best of the best Programms for Editing (they are more than hard to handle for noobs!):
There are good programms such as:
Sony Vegas
Adobe After Effects (often only called AE )

I hoped, that I helped you with the whole thing!

A far more useful response would have been to point the poster to the two stickied software lists at the top of the Video Software Help forum.
