If its dl'd footage, I dont think serving it thorugh avs would be much different to loading the file directly into vegas. Try loading the files into vdub and making a fast, crapy looking divx with a keyframe rate about 3 times the source fps. Dont forget to disable the audio in the stream list. Bait and switch once you've finished. Also make sure you got the right codec for the files and random guess, ffdshow might be fluffing up.

Far as avs goes, uninstall it. You can get the latest verison and reinstall later, and your previos files should still work.

If all else fails, try asking at http://www.doom9.org/ forums.. They are soo awesome there and probably know a lot more than the people here on how to get things to work for you. Even the creator of Avisynth and DGIndex is there. I could probably help a bit.. but you have to be specific with what type of footage your working with.. Are you working with VOB DVD files, xvid files, divx files.. what exactly are you working with? avi doesn't say much.. things work differently depending on what codec your using. If you need help finding that out.. this program may help.

hope that helps..

Now that helps a lot. I use to have the same problem getting those to work, but I ran into this thread, and then finally I was able to get Xvid to run in Vegas..

http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopi ... 64#1291964

the only problem is that once you uninstall Xvid video codec.. they will run fine in Vegas.. just you won't be able to save your video in that format. If you want to edit in Xvid format and then save it in Xvid format.. I recommend just saving the video you worked on in vegas as a Huffyuv with uncompressed audio as well, then re-install Xvid.. and then just import the Huffyuv in a program like Vdub, then you could set your compression setting to Xvid there, and then compress the audio any way you want.. I'd recommend using Lame MP3 to compress your audio.

Hope that helps.

Sorry then.. there's probably something else you can do.. I made this post at doom9 and Zarxrax was trying to tell me to try something that I didn't quite get..

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=94820

It may not be the only solution.. try different things if you can or care at least.. Does premiere play the files just fine?? I don't quite remember. I haven't used divx or xvid in video editing for a long ass time.
