Vegas 6.0 Video playing question...

Post by The14thGOD » Wed Oct 19, 2005 8:08 am

Hi, I was wondering, currently I do not have a video editing program, besides a trial of Vegas 6.0, but I can not read like half of the files i have...

so anyone have a list of compatible files for Vegas 6.0?

thx in advance

It should work with everything as long as you've got the corect codec. FFDshow might be causing some conflicts and if you have a codec pack i need to hit you over the head. SO make sure you've got the full, individual codec for each video type. For mpeg1/2 video you'l need to register the codec before you can use it. After that such files should import nicely. Oh and if your trying to use avs files, you'l have to create a virtual avi file using vfapi converter.

You need the latest versions of DGmpegdex (aka dgindex) and vfapi to import avs files. Older versions woent work.

Open an mpeg/vob file in vegas and a box will pop-up asking you to register. You basicaly just gota fill out some little form and wait for a key or something (I did it ages ago, cant remember exactly). It was free with vegas4, so it should be the same when you buy vegas 6. THough why your editing with mpeg1/2 files I dont understand.

If your editing fansubs you should iether select clips you want to use and make huffy's out of them or make low quality renders in divx and edit with them. If you use the second option make sure you set the max keyframe rate to whatever the original avi's fps is, for smooth editing. Editing fansubs without any conversion is going to be painfull no matter what editor you use, due to the lack of keyframes.

For dvd footage, rip the anime then get dgmpeg from here. Open the vob in that and save a project file. Then you can iether write an avs script with it as the source or make a virtual avi striaght away with the d2v file using vfapi which ya can dl from here. Then edit with the virtaul avi the program creates. Its much faster than straight editing with vob files. You might want to uninstall amvapp though and iether install the programs seperately or reinstall it without dgindex or vdapi if it comes with it.
