Brings together two of my favorite things Music and Anime... plus it has taught me alot about analyzing how to make an effect ON PEOPLE and what I can use to get that effect...

I like effecting people.... I've always wanted to entertain, but since the Film Industry is a pain to get into, and AMV is so easy to get into :P I kinda started here :) I might one day move on to bigger things, but I am doing well here :)

I can say with absolute certainty how I first saw a music video, and, for that matter, what that video was. Back in the days of no-pay Napster, I used to download Final Fantasy music (now I own the soundtracks. ^_~ ) I don't know what possessed me to do it, but one day I clicked "video" instead of "audio" for my file criteria. I have to admit, I was a bit confused when I saw "Final Fantasy IX - 'In the End'" as a downloadable file. So, I got it. And I was like...

WOW.

That was awesome. At some point, I learned that the author of this video was some "AtomX" guy. As I downloaded more of these music videos, I found his name on a couple of other works as well. To me, the n00b, these were equally kickass. I wanted more.
Oh man this can't be!!! :D  Oh my god, this is incredible, incredible I say! The same happened to me, not in this way, I was simply going around the web and I found this Final Fantasy IX - In the End by this Atomx guy who before I didn't knew, like you I generally didn't knew even the existence of those things called "AnimeMusicVideos", oh man this is really a coincidence. ;P It is been also for me the beginning to this world, and really the first amv I saw ever, and yes I was incredibly Amazed too. (and still I am! It is a really good video :o) :P And generally, wow, your story seems so, so much to mine.. Really incredible. ^^ I'm amazed really. :P

This thread is becoming interesting, I'm really happy to can hear your comments about this topic, it is really something I think deserve time to think about.

Watching: introduces me to music and anime that I otherwise wouldn't think to get into.

Making: editing and effects practice I guess, sometimes the challenge makes it tough to continue on but support from friends never hurts.

I like watching AMVs because I love seeing the endless combinations people create of anime and music. Every AMV looks at a certain anime (or animes) from a certain angle dictated by the song and the maker's POV and thus sheds a different light on the series and lets me notice new dimensions or new notions in the show that I haven't noticed before. Also, I like character profile AMVs the most because they add depth to characters and uncover the qualities in the characters that weren't stressed enough in the show.

I like making AMVs because it feels good when you are done with making one. Ahh, the joys of exporting a project..

Go watch the videos to Kylie Minogue's "Come Into My World" and "Love At First Sight" and try saying that with a straight face.
Never seen those, but I was generalizing anyway. Sure there are some good music videos, I just think the vast majority of them are not entertaining.
Or check out Chris Cunningham and Michael Gondry's videos.

NME, obviously you're just sticking around for the fine, intelligent company, huh? I mean come on, man. For someone who prides himself on having such a "unique" view on shit, you act like you're better than everyone else and soaring above it all when you hang around and don't even "like it." You're free to leave at any time, but I doubt you will. You seem like you have nothing better to do with your life. Don't bother bringing drugs into this arguement. If that's the only thing you have against me, you're the most ignorant shit I know. The way you make a total ass of yourself on a nightly basis is damn near approaching "SAMMY" level. Tone it down, man. People are gonna be surprised they have to hear this shit from ME, of all people, and you know what I'm talking about.

Hmmm.. let's ask the questions why do I like the things I like. People have their own reason for liking things.. I like anime(don't think I need to list reasons), I've liked music videos before I started watching AMVs, I use to record them on my VCR, and I like music. Also it's a form of entertainment.. one thing to say is I like it because it's entertaining. 6 years ago I saw amazing home made music videos using anime on the internet.. and I got hooked. I never started making them for other anime fans.. I felt they are good advertisement.. I made my first video mainly for non amv crowds just to stir up some curiosity.. never started for you guys(I said started OK. now Sharin' is pretty fun.).. there's also some emotional side to it.. good for expression IMO.. great for storytelling,etc,etc,etc.. there's a various amount of reasons for me liking it. blablabla [/end of pointless like rambling... meeeeehhhhh.... >.<]
