Hi all. I’ve been making some AMVs for the Michigan based cult goth-gypsy-psych-cabaret duo Terror at the Opera lately. They have one song in particular that has a extra-good rhythm and chord progression, called Daystar, which I think would make a great character or relationship profile vid, particularly for one of the many anti-hero bishonen protagonists of anime. I was initially thinking Howl from HMC for this, but since I’m also doing another Ghibli vid for the same band, I wanted to get some more ideas of who the song suits and I how I can explore them though it. Here are the lyrics, as best as I can transcribe them.

Day-star, don’t let the sun obscure you,
The weather’s fine, and women who adore you.
Hey! Heaven ain’t so far away once she takes off her jewellery,
Heaven ain’t so far away
From where you’re blooming.
Night-light, flying through my city,
Broken hearts bridging the nitty to gritty.
Well, if you’ve come to talk me in
Right before I dream, I’m bound to end up where you are eventually.
La la da, la da da...
Rough diamond, misshapen yet the prettiest of,
Prettiest of them all, I bet.
I could keep quiet longer than you,
Sit all by myself in a mostly empty room, singing
La da da da, la da da...
Good omens decorate your accidents, your accidents, your small mistakes.
Good omens hover around the mischief of your charming sound,
Ever pulling into shapes like the obelisk-heart-snake-stalactite.
Well, bliss is bliss, without a name nor a word!
But through this bliss my pain I heard.
Waves of words, storms of dreams
Melting all the colours that held together the sea.
Waves of words, storms of lies,
raining down, raining down on body and mind,
raining down your body and mind.
Rough diamond, misshapen yet the prettiest of,
Prettiest of them all, I bet.
I can stay awake longer, longer than you
Sit all by myself in a baby-blue room singing
La da da da, la da da...

kk well i watched some vids to howl's moving castle and i looked for the song here but couldn't find it, o well, and i watched sum vids to Laputa, Castle in the Sky cuz that's wat came up when i looked for ghibli. and i thought, if the song is a cult goth-gypsy-psych-cabaret duo Terror at the Opera type of song, it sounds more dark then laputa could provide. So from wat i've seen and am assuming about the song i think i'd recommend Howl's moving castle ^_^ hope i'm of help
