AVSEdit preview...

Post by x_rex30 » Mon Oct 03, 2005 2:49 am

... looks like shit for some reason. It looked perfectly fine on my other computer, I don't know why it has to look like this on my new computer. :x

Anyway here's what it looks like..

So what's the reason it's looking like this? What could cause it to happen? Any help is appreciated.

Is it dithering the colors to 16-bit for some reason? This looks kind of like the same noise I used to get in VirtualDubMod before I realized I had one of the bit depth settings set to 16 bits.

I don't quite understand. Where would the settings be to fix this?

Here's the other thread I created to try and solve this problem..

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=101185

They told me to ensure I'm using XviD as yv12 decoder witch I'm not sure how to check.. To update all my drivers and there pretty much up to date.. though maybe there's a good program out there I can use to check them.. maybe a little help there would be nice.. and the color depth and screen resolution seems fine.. I don't see how they could be set wrong unless there's some advanced settings I've missed.

It appears I'm like the only one experiencing this deal.. I've tried to search the web for others that have experienced this problem and I didn't find any.

Well, one thing that immediately jumps out at me from your post is that you (1) have too much money to spend and (2) ripped yourself off.

Besides that, though, your list is fairly close to useless, except for the fact that you're working with an ATI Radeon X800.

List EXACTLY what these are:

(1) current color depth
(2) hardware driver revision
(3) driver acceleration level (go to Control Panel -> Display)

Provide FRAMEGRABS for these:

(1) what the source SHOULD look like
(2) what the SCRIPT, not source, looks like in VirtualDub(Mod) with DirectDraw acceleration off

Yeah, I was too much in a hurry to buy a new computer, I should of spent more time and looked into things instead of rushing out to buy. :(

I'll do all those things in given time.. anyway thanks for letting me know I got ripped off.. and maybe explain how..

Yay, I fixed it!! :D

I added ConvertHybridtoRGB32() to fix it (not ConvertToRGB since I can't seem to find it in the default list). I don't know much about that and I can't view the help options in Avisynth for some reason.. and it even seems like there's a number of filters missing.. I'll figure all that out, I'm just glade I know how to fix it so I can preview it, though I hope converthybridtoRGB32 doesn't do any effect on the video that I don't want to. Maybe someone could care to share exactly what that does while I can't view the help file.

onto another issue.. I would like to know how I was ripped off.. Is my system specs not good or something. I was under the impression I got a good computer since games run perfectly on it and video editing programs run extremely good as well.. so I dunno.. I'm not a wiz when it comes to computer parts.

I don't know about ConvertToRGB(), but <b>ConvertToRGB32()</b> should work fine. And all that does is convert the colorspace, nothing else.

I don't know about ConvertHybridToRGB32() though, because I've never heard of it before and I don't see it in the documentation or on the AVISynth wiki.

It's not that your system is bad. It's that it's unnecessarily <i>good</i>: why on earth do you need a Xeon and a 10,000 RPM hard drive?
