Why does everyone listen to crap?

my main problem with people when it comes to music is the fact that nobody has an open mind on the subject, it may seem that I'm closed minded on the subject but the truth of the matter is I have probably listened to more genres of music than anyone has ever even tried to catergorize, sure every genre has its own set of horribly terrible bands or artists, but at least I've gotten to the point where I can listen to a different type of music and take it in for what its worth and not just immediately rejecting it because its different from what I'm used to listening to

I understand this perfectly, what I don't understand is why people tend to stick with one or two genres of music that they like but don't take the time to broaden their horizons, kinda like saying you don' like a certain food before you taste it

Well, I think there's better ways than insults to try opening up people's minds.

I agree with you on a level, of course, but lack of open-mindedness is something that lies far beyond just music for most people. It's a way of living.

The best you can do on a forum is throw out music recommendations, participate in reasonable argument, and just represent your musical preferences in an intelligent way. Believe it or not, it's in part through this forum that I found better respect for metalheads, because there's a number of fairly reasonable ones here (and a number of less-reasonable ones, too).

i understand that and i personally dont have a favourite type of music genre. I'll listen to anything as long as it has a beat. But your mistaken because you only think short term. People do take the time to listen to something different just not evreyday. Theres a reason why we dont keep on listening to the wiggles in our teens. Why does it matter that everyone doesn't have the same appreciation of music as you?
