  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

A simple yet pretty FFX

Post by StormSiren » Tue Oct 04, 2005 7:33 pm

This isn't the first amv I have made... well in a way it is. I usually do not use anime for videos. I use movies. So this is the first I have been able to upload to the site :P But its another FFX one. So don't moan and groan, I just really loved FFX and thought it would be fun to make my own. But its my first on the site and no its not all glamorous like most of the ones I have seen... but its nice. It just simply tells its own story with special effects.

If anyone knows really good FREE tutorials on After Effects or Premiere 6.5... please post a link or something? I just want to know how to do the basics. Not even the effects.. the basic step by step instructions as how to put together an amv in the proggies.... I'm having no luck with my trial and error method *blush* So this was made with WMM until I can learn!

Doesn't Premiere 6.5 come with a tutorial in the user's manual?

Premiere should come with a quick guide that you can flip through... You can always use that handy-dandy "Help" option at the top as well. But if you want to do things the PDF way, you can check the Adobe site Resource Center for help. (Hey! There's a link to it under "Help"! Whaddaya know?)

Check the online guides here, too. They are WAY helpful.

I like the muddle-through-until-you-figure-it-out method myself.

Okies.... Checking out your vid now...

I think your description of "simple but pretty" fits this video. I appreciate that you didn't use the wipes and fades that are so common in the majority of WMM videos (at least the ones I've seen).

Good first vid!

Good luck with the Premiere and After Effects!

Thanks guys for the help, though I do know about the Help option at the top of the program as well as the Adobe site. I flipped through the guide before I even posted and I normally pick up on programs very quickly without even having to do so. Yet this time even the guide didn't help me. I had also googled various links, checked the AMV site, and went to Adobe's site. No luck. Adobe didn't have a basic 'first-time use of this program tutorial' just how to do certain things after you figure out the first steps. I will just have a friend of mine come over and give me a hand with AF. Premiere will have to wait for the future.

No problem!

Just so you know, I did a google on this, and there were LOADS more sites you can check out for shortcuts, etc.

My search string was: adobe premiere FAQ PDF

Have fun! I only looked thru the first few results, so there is a ton of fun things you can pick up!

Have fun, and let me know when you have your first Premiere vid up. I can't wait to see it!
