Collab opinions added to your own count?

Post by Castor Troy » Sun Oct 02, 2005 9:24 pm

I see quite a few people who collab on videos and have less than 10 opinions but have videos they collabed on with over 30-50 (animix comes to mind).

I talked this over with a few people at AWA (maybe I should have suggested this at Phade's panel but I was sick and missed most of it). It would be fair if people who collaborated on videos would also have the opinions for the video boost up their own op count maybe to also avoid some confusion.

I assume this would take alot of coding and if this was mentioned before and isn't feasible, I apologize. I'm still not a big fan of the op system but maybe this would be fair to people who help out on videos.

I strongly agree. If this could be implemented, it would be a lot fairer to all the people that collaborate on videos.

Eh, I don't think the opinions on MEPs should count for each individual creator. Especially if you're including the score into the average (blah blah score doesn't matter, etc.), because the MEP isn't all their own work. If you want to be fair, you could divide the total opinions by the number of creators and add that to each creator's opinion count. :P But that's a lot of work for no real benefit.

I strongly agree. Collaborations works are borned thanks to the work of both (or all, depends of the number of the creators, like in the m.e.p.) the creators, and generally I really agree with this idea, just wondering why I didn't proposed this by myself before. Flint Idea is also good :o

How about having a box next to the OP form that can be checked if the person writing the op wants everyone in the project to see the op. That way ops can still be writen for individual sections and seen only by the intended audience.

i feel that having mep ops boost each creators' scores will encourage creators to latch on to big name projects with well known editors simply for the op boost.

i do agree that there should be an option that would allow all collaborators to view opinions on meps.

perhaps ops on M.E.P.'s should be viewable by all members of the project, and be counted as an opinion for each member, BUT the actual scores are attributed to noone. As Flint said, the project is a collaborated project, not just one persons work. So if all members of the project could view the op, and have it under the opinion count (eg: Recieved 24 opinions) but not actually have the scores averaged into their opinion averages that would be fairly fair. Because i think most of the people just want to see what viewers think of it, rather than get a ratings boast.

... and if their segments aren't worthy, then the project coordinators will reject them and they won't get the collab credit anyway. I don't see the problem here.

I think anyone who collabs on an MEP can already see the opinions people post.
