A different type of OT forum/ forumset [non-AMV videos]

Before you start waving flags, This topic has nothing to do with the original OT forum "coming back"

I understand that the vast community makes AMVs, and the site should solely focus on AMVs. I also know that Phade would like to see the forums concentrate solely on AMVs instead of other discussions not relating to the letters A, M, and V respectively and combined.

However, for a very long time, people who are also members of the .org make videos that do not have anime in them, or have very little anime in them. Since the rule of disqualifying people from the VCA if they had non-anime music videos in their profiles, many .org members have been or have already been purging their profiles of the non-AMVs.

Yet, it seems that the sub-culture of these non-AMVs has not died out in the AMV community as a whole. Sometimes people will release non-AMVs in AMV Announcements, and simply host the videos on their own webspace, and not enter their non-AMVs into the database.
Others have just not posted up their non-AMVs in the .org at all, or limit themselves to their signature.
And still fewer people continue to completely disassociate themselves from the VCA and keep entering in non-AMVs into the catalog, and simply hosting their non-AMVs on their own webspace instead of the org.

My proposition is to have a forum on the org where we can discuss such non-AMVs.

I feel that since most, if not all, of the non-AMV creators are already contributing to the site with their anime music videos, then it would not completely detract from the purpose of this site to allow the non-AMVs to be discussed.

A simply forum, explaining that the .org is for AMVs only, but if you also create non-AMVs, you can talk about them here.

This way, non-AMVs could be announced without disrupting the general AMV-expierence, and people could leave opinions on the thread of a non-AMV instead of a video entry that might be deleted later so the creator can still participate in the VCAs.

If a forum for non-AMVs existed, I believe a lot less people would have video entries in the .org for these non-AMVs, since they could, with the addition of a forum, actually get an opinion and views on the non-AMVs without making such an entry.

It would also aid in those looking for non-AMVs. A lot of AMVers premiere non-AMVs at cons, and since we technically aren't allowed to post a video entry for the non-AMVs, great pieces of art are lost and people don't know where to go if they want to find them- especially if they don't know who created the video.

I think an "OT" discussion for these non-AMVs would be a great sigh of relief to a lot of people who like editing and use the very helpful guides here- that way everything can be in one place. What do the rest of you think?
