Search by Duration.
Is this a good idea or bad idea? I want to search by duration, or is there already an option to do so.

hmmm, perhaps a good idea, but it would further clutter an already complicated search interface.
I don't really see myself using it for ordinary searches. It could be used to find really short or really long videos though.
In the end probably not worth the effort of coding, but if you have some arguments I'd like to hear them.

I really like lengthy videos, and less fond of short ones usually like trailers. I find the search by filesize useless since people don't know how to compress there audio and video. I run into a lot of videos that are huge in file size but short in video length with uncompressed audio. Search by duration would be very helpful for me in finding lengthy videos a lot better than searching by file size witch doesn't help much at all.

Yes. I think that too.pen-pen2002 wrote:hmmm, perhaps a good idea, but it would further clutter an already complicated search interface.

A good implementation would be like "Videos from 00:00 to 2:00" and then "Videos from 2:00 to 5:00" And then "All"

There is the problem that not all videos are uploaded locally, and not all of those that do are in a format (read: MPEG or AVI) such that Kero can determine their length. (And Nago doesn't even try.)
For indirect and direct links, you'd have to trust that the editor was accurately reporting the length. And so on.

True.. True.. This is somethnig I didn't thought. Searching by duration every In-/Direct link would probably be ignored.Scintilla wrote:There is the problem that not all videos are uploaded locally, and not all of those that do are in a format (read: MPEG or AVI) such that Kero can determine their length. I could see mabe a sort by length of the results with vids that have no length information being placed last in the list. Searching seems a bit too much, but using this as a criteria to sort with shouldn't be too hard.
