More Bandwidth and Revenue Needed

Bandwidth caps are a good idea,direct/inderect links aren't very good iv had better luck with local downloads, what about donating bandwidth and giveing extra options for people donate and people who dont like it tuff luck its all about the benjimens, now starting something like you have to be sponsered and if you sponser a leacher you get band for so much time but also might decrease the amount of different signups and side steps

Bannor ads might help pay for it but i would trust bannor ad with all the differnt spy ware and stuff going around and pop up arnt very attractive and make people with out blockers really lag

I noticed a banner ad on the download page where it says "Hope You Enjoy Your Video!" That will help and its really not destracting at all (and it was anime based). I have no problem with that.

I'm guilty of not donating for over a year, because I planned to and then was utterly bankrupted by school+unemployment. Haven't bought myself anything besides food for the last 6 months. So I am indeed an exception...

I think enacting 2 of these ideas would be great.

The first is to employ Phade's idea of an ad page when trying to download videos.

The other that I think holds a LOT of merit is to sell banner space to AMV creators to try and spread the word about their videos. How many people actually go to the AMV Announcements and just start downloading? Personally, I know for a fact that I don't go there often except during AWA time. =0)

That's just my thought, though.

O.K. I don't have the patience to fumble through this whole thread, so maybe I've missed it being mentioned. But has anyone brought up the idea of membership fees? I don't think they'd have to be very high considering the amount of members we already have. I don't pretend to know the ORG's finances, but a required fee of about $1 a year would generate close to $400,000 annually. It seems like a simple and easy way to do it if you ask me.

The two things I really don't like about the ideas I've noticed are PayPal and Ads. I don't trust either of them.

There's a few problems with this... Phades idea of this site was a FREE place to download AMVs. Charging $1 per person per year would cause over 7/8 of the people to not come here. Yeah, it's $400,000 a year, but it goes against what Phade wants. Donations are enough, and besides, some people are nice enough to donate entire servers to the cause rather than Phade having to spend money on a new server, which is quite a bit of money...

I've got an idea, why don't you take out all the 'NO' videos, and then have a store, but you cannot sell geeky stuff.

You should sell plushies, magazines, and all sorts of stuff.

Stuff that you cannot get in america!!
