This one slipped under the radar. Cascadia Con is a science fiction convention that has - at least this year - a significant anime component. This includes voice actors, the traveling Robotech show, anime viewings, and an AMV contest. I don't know who is running the contest (Geirr?), but a little advertisement would have helped (the deadline passed on Aug 5). It does appear that Geirr is doing some presentations about making AMVs.
Anyway, the con is this weekend so it's probably only good for Pac Northwest locals. It's expensive, too. $125 for all-days, $30-$45 for single days.

Who the HELL is running this contest?5. The Action & Effects and the Dance categories use NEW & UNSEEN anime:
"New" means that at least 70% of the frames are of anime source material whose very first episode aired or was released no earlier than 1-Jan-01.
Note: www.animenfo.com is a great site to verify air/release dates.
"Unseen" means the anime is NOT listed in any of the top 15 "Most Used Anime" on www.animemusicvideos.org, as of 10-Apr-2005.
THE OFFICIAL LIST of over-used series is:
Dragon Ball Z (all) 13.17%
Final Fantasy (all) 8.45%
Naruto 5.27%
Evangelion 5.24%
Kenshin (all) 5.21%
Sailor Moon (all) 4.75%
Inu Yasha 4.51%
Cowboy Bebop 3.21%
Trigun 3.07%
Yu Yu Hakusho 1.77%
Hellsing 1.60%
Love Hina 1.59%
Furi Kuri (FLCL) 1.50%
Card Captor Sakura 1.47%
Yu-Gi-Oh 1.42%
(Remember: You can still make Science Fiction, Trailers, or Comedy entries with any series at all ...)
