Ummm, there was one video with subs in AX and I personally enjoyed it. Although it would have been alot better without the subs.

I think I need to post this again..

I mean if you have the choice of voting for something with amazing effects and perfect quality that was made on something like Adobe Premiere, or the choice of something that has only the mediocre effects of WMM, and fuzzy quality video that WMM causes, what would you choose?
I feel compelled to point out that Cyanna's video "<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... v=50975">F L C AL</a>", made with Windows Movie Maker 2 and no effects other than straight cuts and fades, got into the Upbeat/Rhythm category at Otakon this year with apparently more votes than my own "<a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... 4060">Waka Laka (for Osaka)</a>", made with Adobe Premiere Pro and having <s>blinding</s> 2D effects all over the place.

I also feel compelled to point out that, at Otakon 2004, Kusoyaro's <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... >Buttercup video</a> came very close to beating VicBond007's <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... elieve"</a> in the very same category. Same deal there: Kusoyaro's video wasn't made in WMM, but it could have been, and Vic's was a shiny happy AE-fest.
<i>And the voting was done by the audience members at the con.</i>

Only two examples. I am sure there are many more.

Oh, and WMM does <i>not</i> cause fuzzy quality. People just don't know <a href="/guides/avtech/wmm2export.html">how to properly export from it</a>.

Okay okay. Calm done :) This is just a fun little contest. I'm sorry if "The Loser Awards" seems a little harsh, but I have always been told my sense of humor can be a bit rude. lol Sorry if I insulted anyone. *get's down on knees and has a pathetic look on face* Pwease don't beat me! Pwetty Pwease!

:D

I wonder, as usual, just how you can tell that a video was made with Windows Movie Maker.

I mean, there's no special, unambiguous stamp that WMM leaves on a video.

If they disallow outside programs like Photoshop and VirtualDub, you can tell by the existence of certain effects, even simple things like layers. Working with a single video track, you can instantly tell who's using an outside program to suplement wmm.

Castory also required screencaps of the project file for his wmm contest, which is the quickest way to check what the vid was made in.

What is the point of disallowing external programs, besides an intentional and unnecessary crippling? You may as well call it the Diana Moon Glampers AMV contest.

How about a restiction to just freely available programs?

I didn't wanna keep track of all the free programs and WMM is the most profilic among windows users.

I was thinking of entering this contest and using either Magix or Premiere. Trythil is right, there is no way to distinguish how it was made in WMM or not (and if someone says WMV, I will personally kick their face in)

:P lol, this thread is just proving how I really think things through

xD

Yeah, the screencaps are a brilliant idea. I think that I'll add that to the rules :P *feels like an idiot*

Although, I like to think I'm pretty good at telling a WMM AMVs apart from AMVs that were made on something like Vegas or Magix.
