Don't worry dude, I've made arrangements for back up facilities in case my stuff doesn't work as well as I would like. Definitely, you will not suffer for something that is my fault.

Heh. Well, I won't be there (much as I'd like to, maybe next year) so I can't really suffer for it, just the audience if the quality is bad. :P If you do find that your equipment just can't take it, let me know and I'll see about uploading lower-bitrate versions to my site for you to grab if it will help.

This is a great opportunity, since I just started out and really want to challenge myself. But I just have a thought: what if there were evidence of subtitles in your AMV? What's your take on that?

I've only created one video, and I think I won't be able to make another. Plus, the subtitles aren't entirely overdone in the vid as I've created it with very little appearance of them. Just want to know in case I'm going to hinder the audience that may watch the many vids that'll enter.

Well, our rules don't have a specific "No Subtitles" section. I guess, in that regard nothing can stop me from accepting your entry. So long as they actually comply with all the other rules and format requirements, then your entry will be seriously put into the competition.

However, we do have a clause in the rules stating that not all entries may end up being screened, due to factors like too many videos, limited time, etc. So, I guess, though it will sound a little harsh, if we end up needing to decide which videos to show and which to not, your video having subtitles may be at a disadvantage here. Still, we are having a screening session this year too, so though you could end up not competing, there might still be opportunity for us to show your piece there.

Hope I've been helpful, and my recommendation is, send us your entry, and we'll decide from there ;)

Don't hesitate to contact me for more information.

Bumping this thread once more to announce that Manifest AMV competition is closing in 2 weeks time (August 26). Be sure to send in your entries, if possible by mail.

Otherwise, at this late in the game, I am accepting entries via the YouSendIt system. I would like you to zip up your video entry together with a text file containing your entry details. An email to me directly also stating you sent your entries through this way will be greatly appreciated so that I can expect to get it from you.

Please direct any entries and queeries to manifest-amv@metva.com.au

The text file accompanying your AMV submission must contain the following:
  • # Name(s) of creator(s)' real names please (not your AMV creator persona).
    # Studio Name and/or www.animemusicvideos.org nickname (if applicable).
    # Contact email address.
    # Mailing address.
    # Video title.
    # Music title and artist.
    # Source Anime/Game
For the full set of rules, click here.

Remember:
(1) Make a text file of the details above.
(2) Zip your video together with the text file (not applicable if sending via mail, read the rules for further instruction).
(3) Send entries by snail mail or YouSendIt (target email address is manifest-amv@metva.com.au).
(4) Email me at manifest-amv@metva.com.au that you have sent in your entry (whether by snail mail or YouSendIt) so I know to expect it from you.

Thanks to those who have already sent in something. I'll be updating things here soon of the situation at hand. Good luck to all.

Note: The YouSendIt system is basically a file transfer site that allows up to 1GB of any kind of file to be temporarily stored on their servers. The link to the file you uploaded is then sent to the recipient, in this case me. After which I download your file from their servers, and presto, you entered your video to Manifest ;)

NUDGE NUDGE PEOPLE!

There is only 1 more week (actually less than that now) to submit entries to Manifest 2005 AMV Competition. I've quoted myself below for you to submit entries to me if you are quite unwilling to pay for snail mail submissions.

We are going to stop accepting entries by August 26. Manifest is one of the biggest Australian conventions and quite frankly is on par with many other cons around the world so if you want your work to be viewed by a massive anime community in the southern hemisphere, now is your chance to do it ;)

Time is ticking people.

One more bump I suppose is in order...

There's approximately 32 hours left to submit entries. If you read my posts earlier in this thread you can find the method I set out when submitting online to me (ie. via using the YouSendIt system).

It's not too late yet people but it's getting there.

Entries close 11:59AUEST Friday 26th of August.

That's it folks...

Submission of entries is now CLOSED.

I will be updating all of the people who have made it into the competition in the next few days (yeah, I just need to sort through them)...

Anyway, I would like to thank everyone for the great response to the competition. We've received many entries and Manifest AMV Competition is going to be tough this year. To those who can make it to Manifest feel free to drop by and say hi to me because I'm going to be immersed in AMVs up to my neck anyway :p

Once again, thank you all and GOOD LUCK!
