As a member of the Ranma 1/2 mailing list for several years, I would argue that the manga is canon and takes precedent over whatever the anime said. I think R-A-N-M-A's answer should be accepted. The anime took a lot of liberty with Takahashi-sensei's original work.

Besides, Kitsuner, are you using the original or dubbed dialogue as the answer? But, it's your question, whatever you want.

I was planning on accepting both versions. The only reason I chose not to accept the manga answer is because I do not have that part of the manga, thus cannot accurately judge correctness.

Because I will not be able to check the thread for answers this weekend, I will not add a new question. Instead, I will simply give the thread to R-A-N-M-A, since narcted says those names were in the manga, and I don't want to just leave the thread open. Go for it, R-A-N-M-A!

Ok then, looks like I've got the helm then.

Okay, this question comes from the motion picture Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko (or simply known as Pom Poko).

Early in the film, the council of chiefs meet to make their early plans on sabotaging the construction project. They decide on a multi-year plan, to study humans, to train in the art of transformation, and to send travellers to other parts in Japan, to seek out the Masters of transformation. Just prior to the meeting's adjournment, the chiefs proceed to study ONE human creation RIGHT THEN AND THERE.

THE QUESTION: What human creation did the chiefs "study" near the end of the meeting?
