as long as they meet the size requirements...with...kb..etc...

you can make them with pretty much anything...from paint..to gimp

look for gimp, that would be my first recommendation

though I haven't used it in years, I'm sure it's very kickass now

a lot of people like using programs such as adobe/paintshop pro..hell perhaps even ulead ...

but really, it's up to preference...

I hope you got something out of my ramblings

Oh how convenient. A theory about God that doesn't require looking through a telescope.

yeah just use softwares to make them. Microsoft Paint is good for begining level~ but for advance level, you need some better graphing software like Adobe Paintshop or Fireworks~

Is Adobe Paintshop or Fireworks better than Photoshop? What's the difference anyway? :)
I'm using Photoshop 7.5 right now. I tried CS edition... Damn. It's cool allright, but it takes almost half of my RAM. In addition to bittorrents, winamp,
Mozilla e.t.c. i cannot allow myself such a huge waste of RAM. So i'm using 7.5 version. It's stable, good and dont have useless features.
Just turn it on, create something do "Save for web.." and upload :D
BEXXX - my opinion is Photoshop 7.5 + Ulead Gif Animator (I tried Image Ready. But it cannot compete with UGA.) + couple of hands (you can use one  ) + brain and good idea.
Use layers, filters, brushes & stuff 'till you get what you need. Than just press
Alt+Shift+Ctrl+S and select right compression type so size wil be less than 21kb.
If you want to do animated banner - first create frames in Photoshop, than select top layer, press Shift+Ctrl+Alt+E than Ctrl+A and than Ctrl+C and paste your image to Ulead Gif animator. By the way UGA have awesome Optimization meneger. Best i've seen yet.
P.S. Sorry about poor english - I'm from Russia :)

Make Banners

Post by Ankomaru » Mon Sep 12, 2005 12:40 pm

Well, you can use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7 if you want to make banners easily, I started with it and I still use it for my banners too. You may use Adobe Photoshop, but I don't recommend it.

How to make a banner in four easy steps

1) Get closeup of some anime characters face. Aim for that sentimental look (also known as the 'I'm constipated' look).

2) Think of some sappy two or three word phrase. It should be the type of mindless crap you'd see on a motivational poster.

3) Combine and add in the orgs logo

4) Bitch in your diary about it being rejected by the voters.

5) When it gets rejected make very slight changes to it and resubmit it until it makes worthy.

I use Microsoft Picture It! Photo Premium 2001 and that works well for me. (For most of my projects.) I just don't know how to make an animated banner. I need a "for the poor people" program to help me make animated banners until I can save up enough money to buy Animation shop. Any suggestions? Oh and, can someone tell me how to vote for someone’s banner. Thank You. :o
