Capture Card or Not?

Post by Sorkuri » Mon Aug 08, 2005 11:44 am

So i'm looking to take t.v clips and make an amv, which i can't find anywhere on the inter-web and the like. So my question is do i need a capture card to rip it from the t.v. or am i able to plug my vcr into my computer somehow? Ant feedback is appreciated

You'll need a capture card or something off a USB. Don't ask me what to recomend though.

(This should probably be in hardware)

Yes, you'll need a capture card. I don't know what to recommend you, but I do know what not to recommend you, and that's ATI's TV Wonder series...if they even still develop those.

Just make sure you get something capable of 640x480 or higher capture resolution and it has an S-Video/Composite input.

The All In Wonder cards of late have actualy been pretty good with inputs. A bit on the expensive side though.

XviD? The codec? And unless you don't have enough wattage for the card I wouldn't worry about frying hard drives.

I suppose you'd have to ask someone else. My old Canopus DVRex-M1 still works, but It's all I have and really big.
