Some recommendations and ops for the following..
harlo~ i need some recommendations and ops for the following bands cause im gonna go buy some music albums
Kamelot
Epica
Mars Volta
i need some album recommendations for kamelot and epica, cause ive heard a few of there songs and they were awesome. And is anyone familiar with Mars Volta? ive got some of there music and they were good but i reckon they have probably other kick ass albums but i dont have a clue which one is good to get. If i cant get my hands on some albums by these bands i have my eyes set on:
Dream Theatre
Nightwish
Ayreon
Im still confused about which one to get for Dream Theatre >< i got so many replies about which albums to get in my last thread bout DT, still thinking about it haha. For Nightwish i got there album "Once" it was a bloody ripper, though im deciding if i should get another album or not. Ayreon, ive decided to get Human Equation. Opinions and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. IM DYING TO GET SOME MUSIC!! XD

ok... kamelot is one of my favourit bands, and i realy recommend the albums "the 4th legacy", "karma", "epica" and maybe "the black halo" but it's not as good as the others.
here a few reviews:
The 4th Legacy:http://www.metal-observer.com/articles. ... d=1&id=119
Karma:http://www.metal-observer.com/articles. ... =1&id=3665
Epica:http://www.metal-observer.com/articles. ... =1&id=1854
The Black Halo:http://www.metal-observer.com/articles. ... =1&id=7597
i don't know albums from Epica and Mars Volta, but a know a few songs, and they are not bad
Dream Theatre and Ayreon is not my favourit kind of music, but Ayreon has always many well known gast-musicians...
I have only one thing to say about Nightwish... If you want so buy an album of Nightwish, buy an older one ^^ (Angels fall first, Oceanborn)
I hope i could help you a little bit

I personally like DT's live album, it's a bit more energetic than the one studio album I've heard.
And my personal feelings on the Mars Volta, if you care to hear it: the first album is great, the second album is good. They are a very tight and energetic group, and De-Loused In the Comatorium reflects that side of them with some mind-blowing arrangements and instrumental showoffy bits. But they also have a tendency to get really stoned and ramble on aimlessly for a long time, and Frances the Mute is all about that side. And they don't jam in a cool and exciting way like Phish, they just fiddle around for ten or twenty minutes. It's not too bad if you can deal with extended psych-rock acid jamfests (and if you can, let me redirect you to Acid Mothers Temple), but it's not the Volta's strong suit.

If you're going Dream Theater, go with Scenes From a Memory or Awake.
Their last two albums are alright, but neither are very proggy. So... actually, you might like them more. If you're a fan of prog metal, go for Scenes From a Memory or Awake. If you aren't, get either of their last two albums.
And Ayreon's Human Equation was just about the best album of that year.
