"Most political musician" is kind of difficult, not only because "musician" is a very difficult term. John Ashcroft and Orrin Hatch are both recording artists, but they both suck (music as well as politics), and it's not their main job.
Among active known musicians, it's probably a tossup between Tom Morello and Ted Nugent. Morello and the Night Watchmen always seem to be on the bill or among the organizers of any left-leaning musical event, and the Nuge always seems to butt in and offer his opinion on any move by the right. If they had a debate moderated by Henry Rollins, it would be the most interesting event in recent American political history....until the audience left because none of the three would shut up.
Of course, this discounts more underground and extreme acts, especially those with extreme viewpoints. The main guy from Landser is in prison right now because he would not recant the NS beliefs expressed in their music, and that sort of extreme rightism is currently against the law in Germany. Most people in skin bands chicken out before that point and do consciousness-rehab, but any musician willing to go to jail for their beliefs, however wrong or stupid they may be, definitely is in contention for most political.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

Controversial you say? Right up my alley, checking out now.trinigal wrote:i dont know if any of you guys have heard of a singer named M.I.A.,but in the U.K., she's considered one of the most controversial singers of her time. She sings about things from prostitution to poverty to her views in the war of Iraq and on President Bush to consumerisms.
