In the audio track for a show, you're going to have voices coming from all over the soundstage.
Point taken, but if you can find the part of the audio that the voice is in and only use that, then you are OK, thats the only tricky part. Most of the time, its in that middle band, you just need to find exactly where it is.

Yeah but what if...

What if you did the process but selected a different piece to edit out. Say if you had a program that would copy only one part (the voices) and discarded the rest. Instead of removing the music, remove the voices and save as a new file...

Wait...I got a great idea...

Re-record the voices with your schoolmates and use that school database site for the sound fx...it could work...if you could find enough Otaku...

That's always the problem...
...not enough Otaku...

Hmmm, I dont know of any programs or plugins that will record just the middle band (voices), but if I can find one, it would make my project a whole lot easier. As for using my schoolmates for the voices, I dont think that would work very well.

One more question, whats Otaku? Sorry, I'm still trying to get all the lingo.

quoted from Dictionary.com

Main Entry: otaku
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: an avid collector or enthusiast, esp. one who is obsessed [with] anime, video games, or computer and rarely leaves home
Etymology: Japanese `house'
Usage: derogatory slang

If you have seen Cowboy Bebop, Faye mentions "demented Otaku with smelly feet" in episdoe #9 - "Jamming with Edward".

Anyways, why would you want to change the soundtrack to Cowboy Bebop? Of all the hundreds of thousands of anime series that are out there, it is, in my opinion anyway, one of the better ones concerning its soundtrack. Eh, to each his own... Good luck.

Hah, interesting. That would be like a fandub but also with music revised.

I could see that working if you find enough possible voice talent, though that would involve quite a lot of work.

I still think the silent idea is an interesting one. It's actually somewhat like editing AMV's in reverse - getting music to match up to the visuals rather than the opposite. Could have interesting results with a good, competent audio mixer at the helm.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

First off, thank you for the definition. Secondly, the only reason I used Cowboy Bebop (the movie mind you) in a beta test was to see if my idea would even work. I only did it for 10 minutes of the movie. For now, I am sticking with FMA, and now that I got the audio ripped and most of the music removed (or quieted to the point where you wont hear it when the other music is added), I can now begin to add the new music. If I feel so inclined, I might put up a track listing for what's going to be in it.

Yea, theres no way that I even plan to redub the episodes that I work on, it is strictly just the music, and like you said, it'd be too much work anyways. Still a little confused how the whole "Silent Movie" thing came into play here, the original voices are still in the episodes, just the music is being changed. However, I would be interested to see what someone would do with that kind of a concept.

Ok then, The "beta" of the episode is done. Basically all the new music was added and most of the other music was removed. There is still a lot of polishing needed to the audio though. In spots, you can still hear the orginal music, the voices sound a tad dissorted, and the Music i added is stil rough around the edges. I will work on these adjustments over the next week or so, but until then if you feel so inclined to see the rough beta, PM me. If not, I will post a torrent for it on here when the final version is finished.
