Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

.hack//AMV

Post by Earl6282 » Wed Jul 13, 2005 2:46 pm

I just made my first AMV, and it turned out pretty well. It's 100% dot hack material, from .hack//SIGN and .hack//Dusk. It's an action AMV, with some pretty sweet music.

Sorry, the image quality is a bit screwed up. That's because I made this video by following tutorial instructions, word for word. I'll improvise next time.
Give me some opinions, stars, whatever. Thanks!

Hmm... it seems to be getting some bad stars. Why is that?

You seem to be new here, so let me give you some pointers:
1. Don't expect too many opinions and especially not the first day after releasing an AMV.
2. Don't bump the announcement thread. It's annoying and discourages people from downloading.
3. Low star rating - it really is possible for people not to like your video, believe me.

As for the amv itself. Video quality is frighteningly low. Also, publishing a quicktime file is not the best idea. Use avi or mpg. Apart from that, it's just a typical 'put random scenes to music' amv, which is quite funny considering this thread.

1. The video quality was low because that was the only way I could compress it so that iMovie would accept it.
2. AVI isn't very smart because macs cannot read it without downloading codecs/software that could potentially fuck over the entire OS. And I don't have anything that can convert .mov to .mpg. I used to, but it also fucked over the quality even more.
3. They aren't just random. It's an AMV composed entirely of battle scenes from .hack. If it was random, you'd probably be seeing a stray clip of nothing happening in there.

It's rather easy to be a forum-disruptor when everyone else lacks the ability to think.

AVI isn't a very good container, but software like mplayer or VLC can handle them just fine. And, since they are (1) entirely userspace and (2) can be run without any special permissions, it is rather difficult for them to "fuck over the entire OS" unless, well, you make them do that.
