My new video looks like crap! PLEASE HELP ME!

Post by Radical_Yue » Tue Jul 12, 2005 2:56 am

I'm not sure how it happened, but uploading this AMV, caused the quality to take a huge dump. It wasn't until later that I noticed it. When I checked it during the "Confirm" upload process, it looked a little off but okay. I then downloaded it later to see that it was a block-ish mess. I took a look at the original version I have saved on my hard drive, and it doesn't look anywhere near as bad. It actually looks great. I didn't upload the wrong file, and I don't believe I had any problems durring the upload so I don't really know why this happened. I can't even ask to try to switch them, cuz my new ferrets tore up the info I had written down to upload the AMV The ftp, username and password stuff...now is ferret food....:( ....I don't know what to do...do you think it may have been the program I used to upload it? I used filezilla just like always, but I've never had this type of problem...please please help me.

Open it in VirtualDub and scan through it. Does it still look like a blockish mess? If not, then you're fine.

I've noticed that having another video program (like DVD2AVI) open already can do this to, for example, Windows Media Player.

If you play it without any other video programs open, it should look just as good as it does in VirtualDub.

You might want to check your decoder's postprocessing settings to make sure it's not doing anything funky.
